A Study to Determine Those Areas in which Vessel Simulation May be Effectively Applied to the Accomplishment of Coast Guard Vessel Operational Training.

Abstract

A baseline of present operational training methods and costs are developed. Present training methods are examined for adequacy by means of questionnaires and interveiws. Simulator configurations are presented which could be directly substituted for existing training methods. Throughout the measure of prorated cost/hands on hour of training is utilized for comparison. Appendices provide: (a) Implementation plan for simulation training systems; (b) Catalog of simulator hardware and techniques; (c) Development of simulator configurations for cost comparison; (d) Data reduction and analysis of survey questionaire; and (e) Operational training cost analysis.
