Dental Laboratory Career Ladder. AFSCs 98230, 98250, 98270, and 98290.

Abstract

Inventory booklets were adminstered to Dental Laboratory personnel during the period January through April 1978. Survey results are based on responses from 532 of the 664 incumbents assigned, or 80 percent of the total assigned career ladder population. Six major groupings of jobs were identified within the career ladder. The largest group (58 percent of the sample) was that of Base Dental Laboratory personnel. These members were involved with the fabrication and repair of dental prostheses at base labs. Other groups included Crown and Bridge Fabricators who worked in both area and base dental labs, Removable Partial Dentures (RPD) Fabricators who were found only at area labs, Orthodontic Appliances Specialists who were primarily found overseas, Porcelain Fabricators, and Dental Lab Managers.
