Fifth Advanced Operational Aviation Medicine Course,

Abstract

This Report contains all the lectures delivered to the Course, which dealt with the selection procedures and performance standards applied to flying personnel in respect of ophthalmology and oto-rhino-laryngology. Visual, auditory, and vestibular fitness standards have to be sufficiently well specified to ensure that flying personnel, in the course of their duties, are able to perform functions which, in many cases, are becoming increasingly complex and difficult. Medical examinations of flying personnel undertaken at examination centres must use precise and reliable techniques to assess flight fitness. The Course was conducted under the auspices of the Aerospace Medical Panel of AGARD. (Author)
