A Study of Management Information System Needs for the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory of the Naval Air Test Center.

Abstract

An investigation was conducted on the requirements for and utility of employing management information systems to support the Electromagnetic Compatibility/Electromagnetic-Interference effort of the Naval Air Test Center. It was determined that the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory of NATC has a need for two types of management information systems (MIS). One would support a data base of specifications, of aircraft equipment and systems, for use by technicians and engineers performing EMC/EMI evaluations of aircraft. The other MIS would support the data base of reported EMC/EMI problems from operational equipment as a part of NATC's role as lead laboratory for aircraft EMC. Several potentially useful systems are reviewed, and the criteria for selecting an appropriate MIS system are discussed.
