Measurements of Antenna Current and Telephone Influence Factor at the U.S. Navy's Wisconsin ELF Communications Test Facility.

Abstract

The harmonic components of the ELF antenna current at the Navy's Wisconsin Test Facility were measured using both a clamp-on current probe on the antenna and a probe coil positioned beneath the antenna. Only harmonics up to the sixth were detectable, and all were at least 70 dB below the magnitude of the 76 Hz fundamental. The Telephone Influence Factor (TIF) for the composite waveform was 1.27, the same value as for a pure 76 Hz signal without harmonics. (Author)
