Current Trends in Army Social Work.
Abstract
Although no formal 'State of the Army Social Work Program' presentation was included in the 1974 Current Trends in Army Social Work Course schedule, the Course Director suggested and it seems appropriate to include a few observations in this documentary to that event. 'Current Trends' was again testimony to the vitality of the Army Social Work career field. Although central funding was available for only about 50 participants, 139 persons were awarded certificates of attendance. Several more individuals attended some portion of the course. There was representation from each of the groupings associated with Army Social Work: active and reserve 3606s, 91Gs, and Department of the Army civilians. Of special note was the attendance of some of our retired component. The course content was of necessity varied in order to address the diversity of activity in which Army social work personnel engage. The value of the Course lies both in the extent to which participants learn as well as contribute to the learning of others. The Course was designed to that end and feedback suggests that the design attained the desired goal.
