Thermonuclear Effects on Reactive Array Radome Materials.

Abstract

The environmental hardness of reactive array radomes has been demonstrated. Reactive array radome test panels successfully completed full Mil specification lightning strike testing without electrical or structural degradation. The panels were exposed to 10 high-level thermonuclear pulses with only minor paint discoloration. It was shown that with 20 mils of rain erosion coating over the external array, the panel dissipated a static charge without arcing or corona formation. A shielding effectiveness of greater than 20 dB in the HF band of EMP energy with the reactive array radome panels was demonstrated. (Author)
