A Study Survey to Assess the Current U. S. Coast Guard Small Boat Training Methodology.

Abstract

Survey, analysis, and recommendations regarding the Coast Guard's methodology in the training of small boat crews. A seven month effort encompassing a broad cross-section of the U. S. Coast Guard, including such units as SAR Stations, Port Security Station, and small vessels. Three major phases were involved: Review of Current Practices, Questionnaire Development and Data Reduction Analysis. Survey-questionnaire documents were developed to solicit factual and opinion-type data from those personnel most affected by the existing training system. These completed surveys were then compiled in a computer data base which was subjected to various trend analysis programs. Computer printouts are analyze to identify read and potential problems from which possible methods of solution are developed and presented. (Author)
