Measurement of Frequency of Light and its Application.

Abstract

This three-year contract has covered many rich areas of physics. Measurement of the velocity of light provided equipment and techniques for studying the anomalous Zeeman effect. Several important theoretical studies on superradiance were conducted. The whole field of time delayed laser saturation spectroscopy was opened. A study has been made of the mechanism of optically pumping far infrared lasers. The metal-oxide-metal diode was analysed theoretically and results verified experimentally. Guidelines are given for lithographic fabrication of thin film structures to operate in the 10 micron region of the infrared spectrum. (Author)
