Sea Trials of a Damped Vibration Absorber on H.M.A.S. Balikpapan.

Abstract

Sea trials of a damped vibration absorber installed on a 550 tonne ship are described. The absorber was designed to increase the damping in the fundamental vertical bending mode of the ship. Vibration levels, as a result of wave action, were reduced by a factor of approximately six. (Author)
