Acoustic and Geophysical Survey of Bottom and Sub-Bottom Reflection Loss Area A Part I.

Abstract

The survey and interpretation of survey results consisted of a detailed acoustic and geophysical program to investigate bottom and sub-bottom reflection loss characteristics in a 1-degree square of the Atlantic Ocean known as Area A. Area A is bounded by latitudes 36 deg to 37 deg N and longitudes 66 degree to 67 degree W. The survey was performed from the U.S. Navy ships San Pablo and Sheldrake during April and May, 1964. The resulting acoustic and geophysical data were analyzed and interpreted during the following three months.
