Wind-Drift Current Investigations.

Abstract

During 1969 there were two highly successful experiments: March 25 and May 7. The March 25 experiment is discussed in the Annual Report (Gordon and Gerard, June, 1969). The May 7th experiment is discussed in this report. Appendix A of this report presents the basic concept of the role of Langmuir circulation in the downward flux of wind derived momentum. It essentially covers the same material reported in the Annual Report, but the method of calculation of MT (the momentum flux accomplished by one Langmuir cell each second) is modified to be more general. Appendix A will be submitted to the Journal of Geophysical Research for consideration for publication.
