On Reducing the Field Strength in the Fresnel Zone of an Antenna.

Abstract

This report has studied the possibility of reducing the mean squared field strength over some region in the Fresnel zone of an antenna without significantly distorting its radiation pattern. For a high-gain antenna it has been found that there is significant radiation pattern distortion if attempts to reduce the mean squared Fresnel field, over a region several or more wavelengths in extent, by more than about a factor of 2.
