Operational Algorithms for the Estimation of Clear Sky Emission Values.

Abstract

Operational algorithms were developed to estimate clear sky emission values at 35 GHz from cloudy emission values measured at 18, 22.235 and 35 GHz. These algorithms are designed for use with sidelooking radiometers located at Hanscom AFB, MA and Eglin AFB, FL. Unique constants were developed for each season and locale and are presented in the appendix with constants developed to invert for integrated liquid water and water vapor along the atmospheric path sensed by the radiometer.
