The Design and Installation of a Damped Vibration Absorber,

Abstract

The theory and operation of a vibration absorber, suitable for increasing the damping in the fundamental vertical vibration mode of a ship, are described. A design example is presented, illustrating the engineering application of the unit in a 550 tonne Landing Craft, and a method of turning the absorber, after installation, is given. (Author)
