Abstract

The fabrication processes for the two La2O2S films and the non-reflective layer were optimized with regard to thin layer thickness and processing temperature. Several bilayer screens were produced using both Type 1723 and Type 1720 glass substrates. Demountable test data were taken on these films. Films fabricated on Type 1720 glass exhibit 80% of the efficiency of those fabricated on sapphire while those fabricated on Type 1723 were 40% as efficient. Many different experiments were tried in an effort to seal the Type 1720 or Type 1723 glass to the 7052 funnel - all of which failed. (Author)
