A Regional Input-Output Model for Forecasting Shore-Based Navy Workload.

Abstract

To forecast the changes in workload on Navy shore-based support activities caused by changes in the size and configuration of the fleet, an input-output (I/O) model has been developed to represent the fleet-support demand network of the 11th Naval District. The I/O sectors represent Naval shore-based facility outputs, with final demands represented by the ships and squadrons of the fleet. The activity levels obtained from the model can be used to derive manpower requirements and to justify changes in budget requirements. This report contains a complete description of the model including formulation, data collection and analysis, coefficient estimation, test runs, and applications. (Author)
