Report of Studies Performed in Support of Lincoln Laboratory Program in Secure Voice Conferencing.

Abstract

This report covers the first phase of a project concerned with human factors in teleconferencing conducted by BBN under a consulting arrangement with Lincoln Laboratory. Approximately one-half of the report is devoted to discussion of the development of teleconferencing scenarios, training of subjects and evolution of performance measures. The second half of the report presents the results obtained during preliminary studies of analog bridge, voice control and 16 kb/s CVSD conferences containing from four to twelve participants. A small experiment concerned with the effects of a simulated round-trip satellite delay of 0.5 seconds on conference performance is also reported. (Author)
