Tunable Diode Laser Measurements of H2O and Co2 Line Parameters in the 10-15 Micrometers Spectral Region.

Abstract

This is an experimental research program to investigate the spectral characteristics of water vapor in selected regions of the spectrum using a tunable diode laser system. A primary goal of the program is to obtain information that will provide a basis for understanding and predicting the properties of the atmospheric water vapor absorption continuum. The main tasks of the program are to: (1) characterize the spectral absorption of H2O vapor throughout the 980-1080/cm range under ultrahigh resolution and with variation of temperature, pressure and nature of the mixing gas, and (2) perform far-wing absorption measurements on selected H2O absorption lines as the lines are modulation pumped at line centers.
