Logistics Investment Screening Technique (LIST).

Abstract

The objective of the research study leading to this report was to define and implement a technique to screen aircraft equipment items for high benefit-to-investment candidates to improve availability, reduce aborts, and lower logistics support costs. The study was comprised of the following tasks: (1) the development of a consolidated data base created from six major Air Force data systems, (2) development of analytic models related to reliability modifications and added spares improvements, and (3) implementation of a computerized analysis system based upon the data base and screening algorithms. This report will present the details relating to the accomplishment of the three tasks above, and provide specific results from the application of the Logistics Investment Screening Technique (LIST). These include the identification of actual hardware items selected from over 100,000 Work Unit Code (WCU) items on 31 aircraft weapon systems. (Author)
