Hydrosphere Project.
Abstract
This final report summarizes the seven foot Hydrosphere Project. During the course of this program, three Interim Reports were submitted. Interim Report I provided background information, theoretical discussions, preliminary design information including structural, power plant considerations, control systems, weight estimates, and experimental procedures. Interim Report II provided a detailed summary of the various design options considered, the selection of a design method, a design report including structural, control systems, propulsion vane design, engine components, and proposed data acquisition methods. Interim Report III provided a submission summarizing fabrication procedures, problems encountered, and techniques employed leading to the final assembly of the seven foot Hydrosphere. This final report includes a brief outline of each of the above noted Interim Reports, as well as detailed discussions covering the periods of testing. The data gathered is presented along with conclusions and recommendations. (Author)
