Effect of Multiple Scattering on the Compton Recoil Current

Abstract

This report explains the approximate method used in the CHAP EMP computer code for calculating the Compton current as affected by multiple scattering, and compares its results with those from more accurate Monte Carlo calculations. It is shown that the CHAP method provides good accuracy. Results computed by Sollfrey are also compared with the Monte Carlo results, and found to be less accurate than expected.
