ARIAN -- An Implementation of a Microcomputer Operating System.

Abstract

ARIAN is a microcomputer operating system developed for use with the Z80 microprocessor. A floppy-disk based operating system, ARIAN was designed to be used as a software development system. Its features include a dual file system for memory and disk files, a built-in assembler input line and intra-line editing facilities, and a host of utilities which may be used for system control and program debugging. Although ARIAN was designed specifically for the Z80 microprocessor, the basic concepts learned during its creation and implementation are of general application. These concepts are discussed in the first part of the thesis, while the following sections describe ARIAN in detail and function as a user's manual. (Author)
