26-Pair Fiber Cable Study.
Abstract
Because of the significant size, weight, and cost savings and the elimination of EMP, EMI, RFI, crosstalk and grounding problems, fiber optic cables are being considered as a replacement for the CX-4566, 26-Pair cable. A study was performed to establish the most effecitve method of utilizing optical cable technology for analog and digital voice communications over a 1000 foot link between a field deployed junction box and AN/TTC-38 and AN/TTC-39 tactical switchboards. Specific subscriber sets connecting with the fiber optic link through the junction box and tactical switches, include the Digital Secure Voice Terminal (DSVT), Digital Nonsecure Voice Terminal (DNVT) and the TA-838/TT, TA-341/TT conventional touch tone analog voice terminals.
