Evaluation of Data Generator for Thread/Program Unit Testing.

Abstract

This report documents the results of a study to determine the feasibility of utilizing actual field test data or other hardware related test data stored on Mission Recording Tapes (MRT's) to develop an Environment Generator (ENVGEN) data set for WCC software testing. Two representative program units (BIDR and SAPB) were evaluated. Results indicated that while some programs units can be successfully tested with MRT-based ENVGEN data (i.e., SAPB), the wide variations in data collected on MRT's and the input requirements of the various threads/program units make it unfeasible to develop a computer program which automatically creates the ENVGEN data set. MRT data retrieval and SAPB software test computer program listings are included. (Author)
