An Approximate Technique for the Integrations of the Equations of Motion in a Free Electron Laser (FEL). One Dimensional Monte Carlo Analysis of a Free Electron Laser (FEL) in a Storage Ring

Abstract

The final report for this contract consists of two articles submitted for publication in the open literature. In the first article the authors describe an approximation they have used to compute gain, saturation, and electron statistics for a free electron laser. In the second article they report the results of a Monte Carlo method one-dimensional analysis of the equilibrium energy spread, bunch length, and average energy radiated by electrons in a storage ring free electron laser.
