Diagnostic Analysis of a Production and Distribution System.

Abstract

This paper describes a diagnostic study of an existing centrally controlled production and distribution system for a large packaging company. The first part of the paper focuses on the data collection effort and the development of diagnostic measures to evaluate the performance of the existing systems. The second part presents a proposal for the design of a new system which follows a hierarchical approach. The managerial implications of the existing centralized system and the proposed hierarchical system are carefully analyzed. (Author)
