Astron Type Equilibrium in the Absence of an Applied Magnetic Field.

Abstract

It is shown that the Vlasov-Maxwell equations predict the existence of rotating layer equilibria (rigid rotor) in the absence of an external magnetic field, provided that the density of the layer exceeds a critical density. (Author)
