Atmospheric Turbidity in Europe, 1963-1969.

Abstract

Atmospheric turbidity in Western Europe and over the Atlantic Ocean is presented from measurements with sun photometers of solar radiation at a wavelength of 500 nm. Approximately 50 stations participated in a turbidity network for parts of the April 1963 to December 1969 period. Daily minimum values are tabulated, and turbidity at the same stations is shown graphically through December 1965. Frequency distributions for 27 stations show that average turbidity varies between about 0.05 and 0.24, depending on industrial pollution, with little seasonal difference. (Author)
