Standard Hydrophone with Digital Preamplifier - USRD Type H76.

Abstract

A standard hydrophone that incorporates an analog-to-digital conversion system has been developed. The 12-bit serial data from the hydrophone provides high reliability and accuracy of sound-pressure measurement over long distances. The errors due to the analog characteristics of long cables are eliminated. A reduced dynamic range due to the finite word size is the only penalty paid by the design. (Author)
