1977 Measurements of Flow Fluctuations in the VKF Tunnels A and D.

Abstract

The measurement of the fluctuations of flow parameters in the test section of various wind tunnels of the von Karman Gas Dynamics Facility has been undertaken. The present report outlines procedures and techniques used in the initial studies of the supersonic Tunnels A and D, during 1977. Hot-wire anemometry techniques were used to measure fluctuations in the free-stream and boundary-layer flow fields. Dynamic-pressure transducers were used for the measurements at the tunnel walls and at the surface of a representative (flat plate) model mounted in the test section. Sample qualitative results are presented. (Author)
