SATCOM Terminal EHF/UHF Test Program System Reliability Analysis

Abstract

This technical report presents the results of an analysis of the operational reliability for the EHF/UHF SATCOM System flight test program conducted by the Air Force Avionics Laboratory during the period of January 1976 to November 1977. The report was prepared as a case study covering a relevant literature review in such areas as reliability analysis models, methods to increase reliability, and SATCOM system reliability estimates. In addition, the study covered the data acquisition approach and data analysis results based on the reliability data obtained from the test program. Supporting appendixes covered such areas as the approach to estimating MTBF and the procedure for the calculation of the Confidence Interval as related to the MTBF.
