Analysis and Design of Composite Bonded Joints under a Dynamic Type Load.

Abstract

This report discusses the results of four years of work under the referenced grant. Principal effort was in the title area, with some work in these subsidiary areas: response of spherical and cylindrical shells to localized loads, determination of interlaminar shear and normal stresses in laminated composite shells, the analysis, design and optimization of bonded joints in composite constructions; including the determination of shear properties of promising adhesives, review of the state of technology in mechanical fasteners in composite structures, and the response of many constructions to hygrothermal loadings.
