Quarter Scale SATCOM Antenna Blast Loads.

Abstract

Blast tests that were recently performed on a 2.44 metre SATCOM antenna to determine blast induced strain have been complemented by quarter-scale tests. In these tests, the model antenna was instrumented with pressure transducers to help establish the load to which the full scale antenna had been subjected. The loads determined will be used in the NASTRAN program to calculate blast induced strain in the full scale test. Comparison of predicted with measured strain will be used to assess the applicability of the program for blast hardening designs. (Author)
