The Utility of the Racial Attitudes and Perceptions Survey (RAPS) for Assessing Impact of Race Relations Training Programs in the Military

Abstract

The Racial attitudes and perceptions survey (RAPS) was administered to approximately 10,000 military personnel in the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and the Navy in a variety of research designs to assess the utility of the instrument for measuring impact of race relations training. Results indicated that the RAPS can be used for this purpose, but only as a part of an evaluation package specifically designed to assess race relations training impact.
