Outcome Measures for Career Counseling Research

Abstract

This paper reviews the topic of career counseling outcome measures. The purpose of the review is to provide background for the construction of instruments used in evaluating a computer-based career information and planning program for Army officers. After a discussion of general considerations concerning the selection of dependent variables for outcome research, the most frequently used measures are summarized. Some of the salient issues that have emerged from the career counseling outcome research also are discussed, and specific recommendations are made for career counseling outcome researchers. (Author)
