Thermal Analysis of Some Components of the Li-So2 Cell,

Abstract

Safety problems associated with heat generation in the Li/So2 system were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry. Various binary mixtures of cell components were found to undergo explosive combustion. Ignition temperatures and cell temperature increases were determined. Passivation of some exothermic reactions were observed on addition to other cell components to some binary mixtures. (Author)
