IRCCD Intrusion Detection.

Abstract

This study investigates the performance of an IRCCD detector array in determining the presence of an intruder in the field of view of the array. Both analytical and computational results are presented. Mathematical models for the detectors, for the background, and for specified classes of intruders have been developed. A signal processing technique is proposed and evaluated with respect to probabilities of detection and false alarm. A comparison with theoretical optimum detectors is also made. A preliminary design for a microprocessor system to accomplish the signal processing is presented and a tentative cost estimate given. (Author)
