Data Performance in a System Where Data Packets Are Transmitted during Voice Silent Periods - Single Channel Case.

Abstract

Transmitting data packets over voice channels during silences in voice conversations has recently been proposed as a way of increasing effective capacity of a telecommunication system. A mathematical model for the single channel case has been developed. The model is described and a comparison between the case where data packets are allowed and the case where they are not allowed to be transmitted during voice silences is made. (Author)
