Attenuation of EMP in the Wave Zone Due to Imperfectly Conducting Ground.

Abstract

Previously, EMP fields from nuclear surface bursts have been extrapolated to points far beyond the source region by use of a multipole extrapolation based on perfect ground conductivity. This report presents a method for correcting the extrapolated fields to account for actual ground impedance. The method is shown to compare favorably with Sommerfeld's solution for a dipole radiating over a flat earth. (Author)
