Environmental Effects on VLF Navigation Systems (OMEGA).

Abstract

Very Low Frequency (VLF) (3-30 khz) radio waves are exceptionally useful for long range navigation systems such as the OMEGA. Anomalies in the earth's upper atmosphere, specifically the ionosphere, can introduce significant errors into these systems. The technical memorandum describes these anomalies and introduces the products available from AFGWC which may help the navigator to better utilize the navigation system. (Author)
