An Efficient Weak Line Search with Guaranteed Termination.

Abstract

A method based on repeated quadratic interpolation is proposed for satisfying a weak line search criterion given by A. A. Goldstein and it is shown to be efficient and to have quaranteed termination. An extension of the line search criterion appropriate to minimum norm problems is sketched. (Author)
