A User's Guide to MIDTRAN - A Combination of LOWTRAN and HITRAN Technologies.

Abstract

This report describes how to use the MIDTRAN computer code for calculation of atmospheric transmission and radiation in the 2-5 micrometers spectral region. The code contains the flexibility of the LOWTRAN code and the high resolution technology of the HITRAN compilation of spectral lines to yield a flexible code with a spectral resolution of approximately 0.1/cm 1. The code can be used for a variety of paths (horizontal, vertical, slant, etc.) and for the six different model atmospheres (as contained in LOWTRAN).
