Automatic Sky Quality Assessment. I. The Point Measurement Device.

Abstract

An automated photometer designed to measure atmospheric extinction and sky brightness has been implemented. The measurement routines are primarily under computer control and require a minimum of operator intervention. A description of the theory and operation of the system is given, and the text concludes with a discussion of the use of the automated system in the context of the GEODSS mission. (Author)
