Advanced Coupling Development Program.

Abstract

This report documents a four-phase effort in the development of an advanced technology coupling. A coupling survey(design and operational requirements definition ; conceptual and detail design; fabrication; static testing and dynamic testing) was conducted. Two concepts out of seven developed in the program were chosen for fabrication and testing. One coupling, a composite flexure element design, successfully completed a basic dynamic performance test and demonstrated superior operational capability to a stainless steeel counterpart. (Author)
