Moisture Problems in Buildings.

Abstract

This report is the result of an investigate study of moisture problems in air conditioned buildings in humid climates, specifically, enlisted quarters in Hawaii, Guam, and the Philippines. The object was to: (a) Identify the major types of building construction and types of environmental conditioning systems which contribute to moisture condensation, humidity, and mildew problems during the cooling season for sub-tropical and tropical environments, (b) Investigate the type of buildings and systems found in (a) and determine the contributing factors and (c) Develop recommended design practices and corrective measures required to preclude moisture condensation, humidity, and mildew problems.
