Measurement of Thermal Diffusivity of Carbon/Carbon Fibre Composites from 20-3000 Degree C.

Abstract

Thermal diffusivity measurements from 500-2300K have been made on the following materials using the laser pulse method. (a) Two mutually perpendicular directions of a three dimensional carbon/carbon fibre composite, (b) Parallel and perpendicular directions of a unidimensional carbon/carbon fibre composite, (c) The matrix material used in fabricating the above composites. The use of a computer based digital data acquisition system significantly enhances the precision and accuracy of the diffusivity measurements. (Author)
