Convective Heat and Mass Transfer to Re-Entry Vehicles.

Abstract

The analysis of convective heat and mass transfer to re-entry vehicles is reviewed with particular emphasis on relevant basic mass transfer theory. The topics covered include: the inviscid flow field, diffusion phenomena, simple mass transfer analyses, surface chemistry, simple heat transfer analyses, the surface energy balance, laminar boundary layer analysis, and turbulent boundary layer analysis.
