Legionnaires' Disease Bacteria: Replication in Alveolar Macrophages of Cynomolgus Monkeys.

The interaction between normal cynomolgus monkey alveolar macrophages and Legionnaires' disease bacteria (LDB) was studied by transmission electron microscopy. Following ingestion of LDB, the organisms replicated within macrophages and destroyed the phagocytic cell. (Author)
