Test Plan for a One-Half Scale Laboratory Model of a Rigid Skirt Hold-Down System.

Abstract

This report is a proposed test plan to obtain the data needed to project and evaluate the performance of a full scale system. Key issues of the planned testing include: air bearing seal leakage rates; loss of hold-down force while traversing flight deck obstacles (tie-down fittings, door, seals, etc) and the magnitude of towing drag forces encountered during traversing. In addition to the test plan, data requirements and test equipment/apparatus requirements are addressed.
